Marcela's Folk Dance Performance

Earlier this spring, Marcela performed in the annual Dual Immersion Cultural Dance that the program puts on each year. This year her dance was "La Campechana" - a Mexican Folk Dance. Here she is pictured with her friend, Brooklyn. I love how they were holding hands - a typical schoolgirl behavior for her age.
Marcela poses with Cecilia before going on stage.
Looking in the mirror as she gets ready.
Our neighborhood friends, Kaitlin and Rylee, also performed in other dances that night.
And Marcela's stage presence stands out in her shining smile through the whole performance. She truly is in her element when she's dancing on stage - not one bit of stage fright - just the wish that she could be out their alone in the spotlight - at least that's what she told me after this dance: "Mommy, I LOVE being on stage - I just wish I could be the only one out there dancing!"

Her partner, Diego, was also very alegre as he danced - they made a great duo!

They finished out their performance with an enthusiastic rendition of ¡VIVA MEXICO!
Our friend filmed the performance, and has since had a lot on his plate so when I get a copy of the video, I'll post it.
