Marcela joined dance last fall with a classmate (Kate) and we arrived on the first day of class and were surprised to find her other friend, Andrea, in the same class as well. Marcela was super-excited to start dance, but there were days she wanted to quit too. After her stage experience though, I think she decided she liked it. She got to wear make-up and be in the spotlight.
They performed a few days before Christmas and the temperature was in the single-digits. As we drove to the venue, Marcela said, "Mami, si me ves en el escenario y estoy temblando, no es porque tengo frio!" ("Mom, if you see me up on stage and I'm shaking, it's not because I'm cold!") Needless to say she was a bit nervous on the way there, but in all the hype of the moment, she ate it all up. There must have been over 1,000 in the audience and maybe the stage lights blinded her from that, but she loved it!
After the performance, they dancers got to visit with Santa and Cecilia went along with big sister.
After her short conversation with Mr. Claus, Marcela claimed that he was not the real Santa because he said that he was going to relay his message. She was annoyed that he would say such a thing and claimed he was only an elf.
Unfortunately, I wasn't on the ball enough to take photos of everyone that came - just Uncle Brady. We're glad to have family close to share these moments with. Abuela Rina was also there to see her first stage show.

look at her! she is such a natural! this, of course, we've known since she learned to walk, because it was in that exact moment that she also learned to shake those hips. wish i could have been there! all my love!
